In order to deeply implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 13th Beijing Beijing Committee of the Communist Party of China and the First Plenary Session of the 8th Council of the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, further unite and consolidate the resources and strength of the directors, and promote the high-quality development of the capital's civil diplomacy work in the new year, on the afternoon of December 26th , the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries held the first symposium of the foreign affairs directors at the Peace Garden Museum in Beijing, to study work and seek common development.
Li Ruohong, the vice president of the 8th Council of the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, chairman of the China World Peace Foundation, and president of the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, presided over the meeting and reported on the "Several Measures to Further Strengthen the Work of Directors (Trial)" of the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. He also solicited opinions and suggestions from all directors on the work plan of the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in 2023 and 2024.
Representatives of 17 unit directors and individual directors from the foreign affairs sector attended the meeting. The attendances spoke enthusiastically and actively proposed suggestions.
Ambassador Lv Fan, Ambassador Bian Jianqiang, Ambassador Li Huaxin, Ambassador Qiu Guohong, and Ambassador Yu Hongyang, the individual directors of the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, all believe that the civil diplomacy activities held by the Association in 2023 are "rich and colorful" and "effective". They suggest that the Association arrange more visits and exchanges in the new year, make more appearances on the international stage, and express their willingness to contribute to the civil diplomacy activities in Beijing.
Sun Liang, Deputy Director of the Office of the China Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, expressed gratitude to the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries for their actively participating in and cooperating in many civil diplomacy events that were attended or delivered speeches by the Secretary General in person . He stated that next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the China Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and also takes the lead in hosting the China ASEAN Cultural Exchange Year. He hopes to carry out close cooperation around a series of tasks such as cooperating with the state's leader diplomacy, serving the overall diplomacy of the country, coordinating the struggle against the United States, and serving local economic and social development. He is willing to do a good job in serving and supporting the rise of civil diplomacy in the capital.
Zhao Fuzhen, Secretary General of the China Society for People’s Friendship Study, Chen Tianping, Executive Vice President of the Norman Bethune Spirit Research Association, and Li Yunchi, Vice President of the Beijing Party School, among other representatives of the board of directors, stated that they will rely on the foreign affairs resources of research associations, universities, and other institutions to strengthen cooperation with the Beijing Association for International Friends, jointly carry out more civil diplomacy activities, and assist the capital's civil diplomacy work.
Representatives from the directors of the Beijing Party Committee Propaganda Department, United Front Work Department, and other units affirmed the importance of the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in civil diplomacy work, stating that they will strengthen exchanges, share resources, concentrate efforts, and jointly tell the good story of China and build up brands of fame.
The representative of the director of the National Religion& Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Standing Committee of the Beijing People's Congress introduced that the focus of the special committee's recent work is on foreign-related economic legislation, and expressed willingness to do more legal protection work for the capital's foreign affairs and civil diplomacy.
The representative of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Government suggests that the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries should actively respond to the changing international situation, establish closer contacts with foreign friendly organizations, and closely focus on functional tasks to do a good job in civil diplomacy.
Zang Likun, the deputy director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Beijing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, stated that she has conducted research and investigation cooperation with the Beijing Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. In the future, she will focus on the work priorities of the two units, strengthen cooperation, concentrate efforts, and strive to leverage the unique network resources and work advantages of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan overseas Chinese to contribute to the civilian diplomacy work in the capital.
