On July 3rd , 2019, at the invitation of the Nepali Ambassador to China, President Li attended a reception hosted for welcoming the delegation led by Hon. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Nepal , who was on a visit to China.
Minister Gyawali said in his speech to the Chinese and Nepalese guests that Dalian is the first stop during his visit to China. The delegation participated in the Summer Davos Forum in Dalian at the invitation of the organizers of the forum. It was also an important state visit after Nepal changed into a Republic this April, and after President Bhandari’s state visit to China. Today, he held talks with Minister Wang Yi. Tomorrow, he will, on behalf of the Government of Nepal, meet with the leaders of the Communist Party of China.
In an exchange with the Minister Gyawali, President Li said that as an important representative of the Chinese people-to-people exchanges organization, the Foundation has maintained close partnership with the Nepal Embassy in China and the former political leaders of Nepal. He himself led the Chinese government and business delegations to Nepal three times, and also cooperated with the embassy in Beijing to organize Nepal-themed activities. He said that as an international organization that has cooperated with UNESCO for many years, our Foundation is willing to co-sponsor the cultural exchanges and promotion projects related to the “Belt and Road” with Nepal. The Assistant of Minister Gyawali stated that Nepal and UNESCO also have long-term close cooperation and are active in the Paris headquarters. They often hold various cultural promotion activities and hope to have the opportunity to cooperate with us in the future to promote the relevant cultural exchanges in Nepal.
At the end, on behalf of the Foundation, UNESCO and the Chinese people-to-people xxchange agency, President Li presented the Minister the Peace Ambassador Medal in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of peace in South Asia.
