On Oct 25th, China World Peace Foundation ushered in The 2nd UNESCO Promoting Cultural Heritage and Cultural Diversity Preservation and Development Plan – Ceramic Art in China, African and Arabian Countries at Peace Garden Museum. Ceramic masters from these countries, representatives of African Union, professors and students from Gabon, Tunisia, Morocco and China attended this ceremony. During this event, professors and students presented their work “Three Horses”, which was jointly created by them when they held ceramic exchanges in Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute from Oct 18th to Oct 24th, to China World Peace Foundation, Ambassadors and cultural counselors of Gabon, Tunisia, and Morocco, as well as the counselor of African Union Presidency (Ethiopia). They wish these diplomatic envoys can deliver this work to respective governments as the cooperative achievement and the ode to traditional friendship.
As an art of fire and clay, ceramic culture has long histories in China, African and Arabian countries. It is not only the vivid reflection of rich intangible cultural heritage, but also the art of living inevitable from people’s daily life. “Three Horses” depicts three running horses, symbolizing the vitality of ancient ceramic art in China, African and Arabian countries. Besides that, the unique African and Arabian elements make it look exotic. 12 ceramic artists from China, African and Arabian countries signed their names on the back of the work.
Oct 17th is the 10th Anniversary UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Preservation Convention. Professors and students majoring in Ceramics wish to express their support and thanks to The Convention in the form of joint work. Taking use of UNESCO, they also wish to intensify their “South-South cooperation” with respect to ancient intangible cultural heritage - ceramic art.
On the ceremony, Mr. Li Ruohong complimented participants from different countries as “the forerunners of carrying forward traditional culture and promoting educational exchanges through ceramic art”. He is very supportive to such creative cultural and art activities. He pointed out, accelerating the success of MDG through “peace + 1” model was the concept he put forward on UN meeting last month. “Peace + 1” is the international public welfare model China World Peace Foundation and Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation have applied. Mr. Li Ruohong wishes to work with UNESCO, African and Arabian countries, maintain peace and safety, collect ideas, breed civilization and make contributions to intangible cultural heritage preservation through art, educational and sport exchanges.
