Chairman Li Ruohong of China World Peace Foundation Won the Award for Public Good

Li Ruohong, Chairman of China WorldPeace Foundation, who spares no effort to promote civil diplomacy, attended theprize presentation activities held by the charity group Jack Brewer Foundationin Manhattan onApril 13^th. He received the honor together with many famous Americanfootball and basketball players. On that event, Millennium Development GoalsAthletes and Artists Committee (MDGAAC) was also announced to be set up.

The reception was held in Eli KleinFine Art, a gallery where exhibits Chinese contemporary art works. Over a hundredguests from all circles of New Yorkattended this party. Jack Brewer, organizer of this event, young founder ofJack Brewer Foundation, was a famous American football player. He met with LiRuohong when he visited China many years ago and jointly carried out a series of public welfare activities,including inviting American athletes to do training programs in China .

Different from the Model UnitedNations targeted at university students, Named after a famous Italian childhoodeducator Montessori, MMUN gathers primary and secondary school students aroundthe world aged between 9 and 15 inNew Yorktwice a year. Model debates will be conducted at Brooklyn Marriot Hotel and UNHeadquarters. As these projects are closely related with MDG and youtheducation, China World Peace Foundation led by Li Ruohong has providedsubstantial support.

Jacobson expressed that he can feelthe sincerity and tolerance of Li Ruohong when he saw him for the first time. Theytwo soon became good friends and they jointly work with Jack Brewer Foundationto promote the public welfare course.

Li Ruohong hopes that through publicwelfare activities, he can make contributions to the poverty overcome,protection of women and children’s rights, as well as China ’s civil diplomacy. He onceworked in State Ministry of Foreign Trade and then lived in Canada forseven years. The business in the fields of real estate and oil was also touchedupon once he came back to China .Now he devotes himself to public welfare course. His China World PeaceFoundation received many ambassadors from different countries, importantpoliticians like UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, and many famous foreignathletes and artists.

On that night, Li Ruohong was joinedon the prize list by American football player Sidney Rice, Akin Ayodele, LanceJohnstone, Corey Chavous, E.J. Henderson, Ronnie Cameron, Kenderick Allen, DarrellReid and former New York Knicks’ player John Starks. Institutions who won thehonors include One World Futbol Project, Elevate New York, AmeriCare, Doc2Doc, OutreachInc, Chevolet and China World Peace Foundation.
